Funeral services Nancy Carol McDaniel Lynch, 83, of San Augustine were held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at First Baptist Church with Bro. Elton Goodwin officiating. Interment will be at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden in San Augustine. She passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, at a Nacogdoches hospital. She was born December 11, 1941, at 3:15 p.m. at Brake Clinic in San Augustine and was the only child of Leo Windham McDaniel and Nancy Pauline Johnson McDaniel.
Nancy Carol attended all grades, 1-12, in San Augustine schools. She was an honor graduate of San Augustine High School Class of 1960, where she was involved in activities including junior high cheerleader, choir, pep squad, band, class officer, and plays. She received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from Stephen F. Austin State College, Nacogdoches, Class of 1963 and was a member of various organizations, including Pine Burr Social Club that became Chi Omega Sorority. She received a Master of Education in elementary education with reading specialization from Lamar University, Beaumont, Class of 1984.
Other activities in her life included with the family business, member of and holding offices in San Augustine Garden Club, Ezekiel Cullen Chapter Daughters of the Republic of Texas, United Daughters of the Confederacy Texas Division, San Augustine Women's Service League, being named Woman of the Year in 2015, Buna Civic Club, lifetime member of SFA Alumni Association, and Young Homemakers of Texas, including Area IX officer and president, and vice-president and secretary for the state of Texas.
Nancy began her teaching ability in elementary school as an upperclassman teaching the lower grades. After receiving her lifetime teaching certificate she substituted for three years at San Augustine Elementary School. Then she served as a leader for Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Mission Friends, and Vacation Bible School.
In 1984, "Mrs. Nancy's" 26 years of teaching began with one year teaching second grade at West Sabine ISD in Pineland and 25 years of teaching second grade, first grade, seventh grade, and eighth grade at Broaddus ISD in Broaddus. She was honored by her former honor students by being named to Who's Who Among America's Teachers for the years 2002, 2004-2005, and 2005-2006.
Nancy and Darnell were blessed in traveling to over 20 different foreign countries across the Atlantic Ocean with some countries being visited twice and two trips to Israel and other Biblical locations.
Her survivors include her children, Varron Edward McLemore and wife Rae Janette of Nacogdoches and Sarah McLemore Hudgins and husband Todd of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Vincent Eric McLemore and wife Emily, Emily Brooke McLemore Lusk and husband Bradley, Garrett Todd Hudgins, and Truman David Hudgins; and great-grandchildren, Hurley Lusk, Kash Scroggins, and Blakely Lusk.
She was preceded in death by her wonderful grandparents, parents, and her husband, Lewis Darnell Lynch.
